National FFA Convention Preview

Many of Nebraska’s FFA members are headed to National FFA Convention this week and while many of us won’t be there in person, we can still follow along with the awards and sessions happening live.

Want to know what to watch for at this year’s convention?

  • 155 Nebraska FFA members will be receiving their American Degree
  • Nebraska has two finalists in Stars Over America: Mark Keck, Plainview–Star Finalist in Agriscience and Eric Miller, Lyons-Decatur Northeast–Star Finalist in Agribusiness
  • Brooke Jindra, Leigh-Clarkson FFA Chapter is Nebraska’s National Officer Candidate
  • Nebraska has three finalists for National Proficiency Awards:
    • Alyssa Hambleton, Fullerton, Goat Production-Entrepreneurship/Placement
    • Jared Knobbe, Agricultural Services-Entrepreneurship/Placement
    • Patrick Arkfeld, Syracuse, Agriscience Research-Animal Systems
  • Nebraska has a full slate of teams competing in Career Development events and four members competing individually
  • 13 Nebraska members will compete in the National Agriscience Fair
  • Five Nebraska members will be on stage for band and six will be performing in the National chorus
  • 17 Nebraska FFA Chapters will receive a National Chapter Award
  • Conestoga and Plainview FFA chapters will receive a Model of Innovation Award for their community efforts.
  • Brennan Costello, 2012-13 National FFA Central Region Vice President from Gothenburg, will be giving his retiring address
