This is the fifth in our series of Nebraska FFA Officers where you are able to learn about the 2015-2016 team. Meet Nebraska FFA Vice President Katie Nolles. Katie’s parents are Mike and Trudy Nolles.
FFA Chapter: Rock County
Supervised Agricultural Experience: She has three SAE projects. One is Beef Production-Entrepreneurship where she raises registered Herefords and sells heifers to youth to show and build their own cowherd. Another is Agricultural Education, in which she assisted her ag teacher in the classroom, volunteered at her county extension office, and mentors youth who show cattle. Her third SAE project is Agricultural Communications, where she has a small livestock marketing service.
FFA Activities: In high school she served as a chapter officer for three years, sold roses and fruit, and competed in Livestock Judging, Range Judging, Creed Speaking, Junior Prepared Public Speaking, Senior Prepared Public Speaking, Junior Parliamentary Procedure, Senior Parliamentary Procedure, Agricultural Issues Forum, Ag Sales, Agricultural Communications, Farm Business Management, and Veterinary Science.
Major: Agricultural Education, minors in Animal Science and Entrepreneurship/Leadership
School: University of Nebraska-Lincoln
College Activities: Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program, Block and Bridle, and Collegiate Farm Bureau
Future Career Goal: She plans to return to her family ranch and be a high school agriculture teacher.
Community Activities: She was active in 4-H, County 4-H Council, and served on the National 4-H Congress Youth Leadership Team. She taught Sunday School and was in her church choir. She serves as Secretary of the Nebraska Junior Hereford Association and is the National Hereford Queen.
